The Benefits of Yin Yoga

Picture

Yin Yoga is by far one of our most loved studio sessions. Clients leave feeling completely revitalized and relaxed, enjoying physical benefits that are not attainable from other workouts or practices. Yin has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues. Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. Postures can be held anywhere from 2-8 minutes in our small group session and generally target the muscles of the hips, spine, pelvis and shoulders. Yin muscles respond differently than those utilized in your Yang practices and although it can be viewed as a very passive yoga style it’s  wonderful for maintaining muscle health and the perfect balance to more active fitness routines.
